Democratic Clubs are the grassroots of the Democratic Party. They are active in political issues, developing skills for folks to run for office, supporting endorsed candidates, and working on campaigns. There are clubs in different geographic areas of the county as well as clubs that are advocates for specific groups or issues. They are required to meet regularly, have clear means to be a member in good standing, are present on social media, and send out email communications to their members. We encourage every Democrat to become a dues-paying member in one or more Democratic Clubs.

Only current officially-chartered clubs may call themselves Democratic Clubs per the authority of this body and the California Democratic Party.

Below is a list of official clubs with their contact information. They are the only approved Democratic Clubs in Monterey County.

Contact the club directly to learn about meetings, membership, and activities. Note that each club also has its own page, where you may view upcoming activities, and other types of information.

If you are interested in starting a new club, contact our Chair, Karen Araujo: KAraujo93901@gmail.com or 831-601-4564.

WATER JUSTICE >>>> We backed Measure J (Public Ownership of Water System Initiative November 2018) and many of you volunteered your time to see that it passed. Support our community allies and attend this event on Monday 4/3, please, and forward to others. Thank you. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The Beginning of the End of Cal AmMPWMD Special Board MeetingMonday April 3 at 5:30 PMMonterey City Council Chambers and Zoom 580 Pacific St., MontereyParking in the Dutra St. parking lot behind the buildingMonday, April 3, marks the beginning of the Cal Am buyout. The Monterey Peninsula Water Management District (MPWMD) is ready to make Cal Am an offer. On Monday, they will reveal that offer and explain the appraisal process they used to decide how much Cal Am is worth.Of course, Cal Am is expected to refuse the offer. But this is the first necessary step in the process. The next step will be the eminent domain proceeding which has two phases. First, a judge must rule if the buyout of Cal Am by MPWMD is in the public interest. Then a jury will decide what Cal Am is worth. In California, 85% of the people get their water from community-owned public water systems for good reason. They have lower-cost water and local control of water supply decisions.According to the CPUC Public Advocates Office, the Peninsula has the most expensive water in the state, with the exception of two tiny water systems. And Cal Am continues to raise the cost of our water. They added another 11% to our water bills last January. For the past three years, they have been stalling and blocking the expansion of Pure Water Monterey to make a case for their oversized, overpriced, environmentally destructive desal plant. Recently, Cal Am has been holding this new water supply hostage by refusing to sign an agreement to buy this urgently needed water. This investor-owned corporation has done great environmental and economic damage to our community in the name of profit.April 3 is a long-awaited day. It’s been over four years since Measure J was passed by 56%. Be there to witness history and support MPWMD for its work in carrying out the mandate of the voters in Measure J. Here's the link to participate on Zoom if you can’t attend in person:; www.publicwaternow.org/r?u=o2YqfvmRQOSd1wAMA7tHv9nHs2sL6pulPC6ZOlzvIQe0YEAX62hB_oByYuaYuT1BA1DxFj...Thank you to all our community leaders and volunteers who helped pass Measure J.Melodie ChrislockPublic Water Now ...
