After a presidential election like no other, democracy faces challenges like never before.

Government institutions, the free press, the judiciary, the integrity of the election itself – all face doubt and even attack, from both foreign and domestic sources.

These are the very foundations of self-rule, and those foundations have been shaken. Increasingly, Americans, among others, are losing hope for democracy – with unprecedented numbers even questioning whether we need it.

Former Congressman Sam Farr, Former Special Assistant to the President Adrienne Harris, Supervisor Zach Friend and Boots Road Group’s Spencer Critchley will talk about that at a free event at Middlebury Institute of International Studies on May 17.
